Interlectual Kerfuffle

Interlectual kerfuffle explains a problem that we tend to have, and most probably other less intellectually advanced people as well. It describes how we feel when smart people think they are really cool when they start dropping ridiculously long words into conversations, leaving us dumbfounded and feeling really stupid. We would just like those brainy people out there to realise that you can really leave serious emotional scarring when you show off your vocabulary like that.

I sometimes feel left out when people are talking, they whip out flash long words off their heads
I know they sound so cool, make me look like a fool, but some words in the dictionary just don’t need to be said

Ambiguous, deciduous, obtrusively, tranquil, I don’t understand so I’ll just sing to myself
La da dada da dada da dada da, if I even try I’ll make a fool of myself,
La da dada da dada da dada da, La da dada da dada da dada

I see your mouth moving, I just stare back dumbly, I feel like a gypsy with no clothes and no shoes
I don’t care if you’re brainy, if you know more words than me, cos I think you’re a monkey using words like you do

Precipitate, collaborate, indigenous, substrate, I don’t understand so I’ll just sing to myself
La da dada da dada da dada da, if I even try I’ll make a fool of myself,
La da dada da dada da dada da, La da dada da dada da dada

I know all the basics, the stuff that is useful, so quit trying to school me and hang up the phone
I’m sick of your bragging, your whining and nagging, I’m not gonna try so just leave me alone

Antidisestablishmentaterianism, I don’t understand so I’ll just sing to myself
La da dada da dada da dada da, if I even try I’ll make a fool of myself,
La da dada da dada da dada da, La da dada da dada da dada
La da dada da dada da dada da, La da dada da dada da dada
La da dada da dada da dada da, if I even try I’ll make a fool of myself.

Cry for the Cut Woman

Cry for the cut woman is the real life tale of the Katikati famous “Cut Woman”. One day in late August 2007, the cut woman (who at that time obviously wasn’t cut), went to the Balcony Café in Katikati and unfortunately walked through the window, smashing the glass and got cut whilst on her way outside to the balcony. She got severe lacerations and we heard that she was in surgery for hours getting patched up. This song depicts our deepest sympathy for the cut woman, and we send kind regards to her, wherever she may be in the universe today. Bridget and Kelsi wrote this song, while they mourned for the cut woman after Elise Taylor told them about this terrible tragedy.

There is a balcony in Katikati, which overlooks Cherry Court
It holds a Cafe that sells food (like muffins)
On a rainy day late August grey clouds overhead
When the woman came in she put down her umbrella (umbrella)
She wiped her shoes two times, she glanced around
The specials board caught her eye, cheap coffee (two dollars fifty)
The owners that day cleaned the window efficiently
It was clear, transparent; it didn’t look very much like a window because it was so clean (clean)
She strolled casually to the deck, holding her tray in hand
She stared blankly towards the distance and the rain (pitter patter pitter)
The window got closer, woman kept walking
They connected, combustion, smash smash (smash smash smash smash)
The woman got cut, some tendons were cut, she got lacerations on her legs

Cry for the cut woman (cry for the woman)
She suffered that day (she suffered that day), She lost a lot of blood (blood)
Cry for the cut woman (cry for the cut woman)
Twas a tragic day, she’s scarred in more ways than one
Cry for the cut woman (cry for the cut woman), Glass rained down (glass rained all around)
It pierced her eyes and her heart and her arms and her spine and her hope and her dreams

Permanently scarred for life, counselling’s not even optional
People see her for what she is, the cut woman, Cut woman

Cheer Up

This song was written to lighten the mood of anyone feeling a bit down or sad, so that they can experience the profound joy of being happy. We just want to let the world know that the grass is far greener on the happy side of the fence, and if they are angry they should know better than to let it out on poor helpless people like ourselves. The third verse of the song is actually true, as one Friday night we went ten pin bowling with some friends, and the lady serving us was angry and gave us the stink eye.

Cheer up, what’s with the frown? Cheer up, why you looking so down?
The sun still shines on a rainy day so stop screwing your face up and smile my way

I walk into Woolworths and what do I see? A grumpy old lady, she’s frowning at me
She’s holding her bags, she looks real mad; I try and be nice say “Do you want a hand?”
I don’t think she heard me so I ask her again, then the freaky old lady turns super saiyan

Cheer up, what’s with the frown? Cheer up, why you looking so down?
The sun still shines on a rainy day so stop screwing your face up and smile my way

Going down the street just walking along when out pops a boy who starts kicking my dog
I try to calm him down and give him a hug; he karate chops me in the neck the right little thug
Who does he think he is acting so rude? A little bit of sunshine might brighten his mood

Cheer up, what’s with the frown? Cheer up, why you looking so down?
The sun still shines on a rainy day so stop screwing your face up and smile my way

Friday night bowling, get my first strike, ask the lady at the counter for some chips and a sprite
She gives me the stink eye, I don’t know her name, I say “Please miss I just want to get back to my game”
“Ten bucks kiddo, give me the cash”, I say “Cheer up lady or I’ll give you the bash”

Cheer up, what’s with the frown? Cheer up, why you looking so down?
The sun still shines on a rainy day so stop screwing your face up and smile my way
Stop screwing your face up and smile my way

Cut the racist crap

The title of this song pretty much describes it in a nutshell. We are frankly sick of any racist behaviour towards anyone, and can’t see why we don’t all just get along. We try to give examples of different cultures and feature one main important line; “we should all go out and play together”. We just think racism is  not on, and the world would be a far better place, if everyone accepted each individual for who they are, not for the colour of their skin. This song was written with some inspiration from Carley Sheerin.

You’re black, I’m white, you’re day, I’m night, We’re both here now so let’s not fight
You eat cats I eat rice, but they are both nice,
Why is the world so racist today? We should all go out and play together

Some cookies are brown; some are vanilla, so let’s cut the racist crap and eat them together
I live in a box, I live in a mansion, I’ll give you some money, I’ll get an expansion
Why is the world so racist today? We should all go out and play together

You choose white sugar I choose brown, but we both live in the same town, so let’s compromise together and use raw sugar forever, you wear a sack I wear silk, you drink wine I drink goats milk
Why is the world so racist today? We should all go out and play together

Everybody has their flaws so let’s kick racism out the door
Let’s stop being racist today so we can go out and play together
So there’s one thing left to say, racism is not ok, let’s love each other today and get racism out of the way forever

Fashion Crisis

This song is a portrayal of our disgust at the preposterous invention labeled “crocs”. We just can’t believe that people would put any thing that sick looking anywhere near their feet, let alone wear them in public. It was a sad sad day that crocs were invented in children’s sizes, so the poor little souls could match their parents bad fashion taste. Say good-bye to the reigning fashion crisis of all time; socks, sandals and 3-quarter pants…here come the crocs!

One day when I was walking down the street I saw some shoes on a girl, how could you wear things that ugly on your feet?
She didn’t even know how ugly they looked, I feel sorry for her, I guess she’ll never know

Crocs are ugly shoes a cross between ugly and synthetic rubber
The only place you should see crocs is in an Australian Zoo – you’ll fit in just fine

Purple, orange, yellow, marone, green, grey, black and blue, all the colours of the rainbow put into an ugly shoe
Ugly thick soles with ugly big holes, six times uglier than Britney spears crossed with a troll

Crocs are ugly shoes a cross between ugly and synthetic rubber
The only place you should see crocs is at the set of Lake Placid– you’ll fit in just fine

This is just a simple message sent out to you; crocs are really ugly, fugly shoes
Don’t ever be caught seen in them unless you don’t mind having no friends

Crocs are ugly shoes a cross between ugly and synthetic rubber
The only place you should see crocs is a swamp or a river, but probably actually never, cos they are ugly, cos they are ugly

Melody of the Manatee

In an under water kingdom, surrounded by krill and mystifying seaweed, dwells a mysterious creature called a manatee. These beautiful creatures (similar to an elephant seal crossed with a walrus) have marvellous melodious voices, which we were inspired to try and portray through song. Melody of the manatee features the voices of Bridget and Kelsi, merging and soaring in an epic song in honour of the manatees, with the serene sound of the ocean and sounds that manatees make when they talk to each other in the background. We can only dream that one day we can join the manatees that live in Lake Taupo and partake in their thrilling singing extravaganza, or even adopt an orphan manatee of our own.

Oah oah oah x heaps and heaps
It’s the melody of the Manatee, melody of the Manatee
Oah oah oah, Oah oah oah,

Flynn’s Song

We wrote this song as a dedication to a year 7 teacher at our school, Vanessa Moodie’s son Flynn. He turned 1 in July 08 and inspired us to write a learning song for kids. We thought we would write a cute song that had a catchy tune with happy music, with simple words so kids and parents can sing along. On our album “It Takes Two”, Ella Bullot, Kelsi’s four-year-old sister, sings the lead part for Flynn’s song. She really loves it and picked up the words really quick (and she can’t even read!) and doesn’t miss an opportunity to recite the song to us.

One plus one is two, the sky up high is blue, the friendly cow says moo, my best friend is you

Let’s have lots of fun, we’ll walk then we’ll run, Play out in the sun, Join in everyone

It’s a big wide world for such little eyes, from the green green grass to the blue blue skies
From when you wake in the morning till you sleep at night, let your imagination take flight

Buzz buzz says the bee, Come and play with me, we’ll climb up a tree, the whole world we can see

When the wind and rain say hi, we’ll go and play a game inside
Hide and seek try not to peek, until the rain has said goodbye

It’s a big wide world for such little eyes, from the green green grass to the blue blue skies
From when you wake in the morning till you sleep at night, let your imagination take flight

Mutant Ninja Dogs

We wrote this song one day to illustrate our distress over the little mutants that have swept the earth like a plague. We might come on a bit strong in this song, with lines like “punt them off a mountain” and “burn them on a star”, but we would just like you to know that we aren’t actually suggesting that you do these things, as we just say it as a jest towards the rat like species of dog. We believe that it might probably be more worthwhile for potential dog owners to steer away from these miniature pests, because it’s not like they can do anything useful like pull a sled or hunt wildebeest.

Small dogs who do they think they are (who do they think they are), If you see one run it down in your car
In hunting season something so small and lame (small and lame), Should be classed as fair game

With the biting and the gnarling, the yapping and the snarling, they’ll never be your friend so stay away my little darling
Punt them off a mountain, or jam them in a fountain, that’s what they deserve

Why is the world so messed up today, why on earth would people pay for the overgrown rats of society?
(Argh, grrr, yap and howl x heaps)

Small dogs who do they think they are (who do they think they are), If the earth was close enough we could burn them on a star
They are so weak I think they might (think they might), get wasted by a newborn baby in a fight

With the growling and the screaming the baby tears start streaming with laughter because the dog is such a weakling
Small dog be mutant, small dog be thick, small dog got beaten with the ugly stick

Why is the world so messed up today, why on earth would people pay for the overgrown rats of society?
(Argh, grrr, yap and howl x heaps)

Small dogs who do they think they are (who do they think they are), they are just the right size to be pickled in jar
Ugly little dog in a handbag like a toy, something that evil should be given to a hobbit and destroyed

Ode to Waggy

This song was written in dedication to someone who doesn’t actually know it was written for him or her. It is written as an illustration of our enormous respect for them. Some say it is dedicated to a cat, others say it is a gypsy, others a regular human. Who really knows these days…

Were you a wilder beast in your previous life? Cos you’ve stampeded my heart
Your features are so feline, you put looking good down to a fine art
Your limbs are so tantilicious, you take my breath away,
Just keep on listening Waggy cos I’ve got so much more to say

Waggy Waggy Waggifer, Waggy Waggy Woo, Waggy Wicky Wonton, All I need is you

Met you in your hometown, you were up a tall tree
You looked so saucy from that angle; I called you down to me
We went down to the milk bar; we ate a wheel of cheese,
You took my heart right then and there, Waggy come home with me please

Waggy Waggy Waggifer, Waggy Waggy Woo, Waggy Wicky Wonton, All I need is you

Sleep Baby Sleep

We wrote this song for our favourite English teacher and Tangible Titans technician Emma Musson, and her baby Cooper. At the time she was pregnant, and we decided to write our first lullaby for her first baby ever. The song is titled “Sleep Baby Sleep”, and has a slow, soothing pace and features a music box sound in the background. We just wanted Cooper and the rest of the babies of the world today to get the sleep they deserve.

The sun has gone to sleep; He’s hiding from the moon
So don’t you make a peep, the night’ll be over soon

Baby close your eyes, the night can be your friend
I’ll be right by your side, until the very end

So sleep baby sleep, Fill your head with dreams,
Rest your head till the morning, its closer than it seems

We will wake together, a new day we will see
I’ll love you forever, my baby you will be, my baby you will be

The Hunters hunt the hunted

Deep in the forest, poor scared little creatures are constantly being hunted, and eaten, by ruthless angry predators like wild gypsies and boars. Through the title and punch line of this song, we convey the message that you either hunt, or be hunted. We wrote this song in a record time of approximately five minutes, filling in gaps where we couldn’t think of words with “la”s, which seemed to work out alright in the end. We made our first official video clip of this song, which is on our multimedia page and also on you tube. One day we decided to venture deep into the redwood forest where the wild creatures live, so we could be in the right element to film the clip for this song. We pulled it off.

How do they survive? Machetes, guns and knives attacking them
Pigs and gypsies grunted, the Hunters hunt the hunted

La la la la la, la la la la, la la la la la, la la la la (la la la la)

Looking down the barrel of the gun, isn’t very fun for Bambi’s son
Cats and warlocks grunted, the Hunters hunt the hunted

La la la la la, la la la la, la la la la la, la la la la (la la la la)

The gypsy’s feral scream sounds very extreme when it’s dying
Vines and rabbits grunted, the Hunters hunt the hunted

La la la la la, la la la la, la la la la la, la la la la (la la la la)

 La la la x heaps

Faglet you ripped my undies

This is the story of a real life occurrence that happened at a camp called Onslaught last year. Bridget was lying on her stomach on the dock by the water, just merely basking in the sun. Faglet, a.k.a Caitlin Mair, thought she would try to be funny (which she does ALL the time), and gave Bridget a wedgie. She did it extra hard, and ripped the waistband on Bridget’s favourite pair of Mossimo undies. Bridget has almost recovered from this scarring incident, after she sewed her undies up and is healing emotionally over time.

We were sitting on the dock at onslaught you saw my undies poking out and you thought it would be funny
To give them a bit of a yank, well guess what you ripped them you stupid dummy face

Faglet you ripped my undies, they were mossimo and they were super comfy
Faglet you ripped my undies, you really crossed the line this time

You do that funny thing with your hands and your mouth; you look like a naked mole rat with rabies
It must be hard being so hopeless, following along behind Bosslet all the time

Faglet you ripped my undies, they were mossimo and they were super comfy
Faglet you ripped my undies, you really crossed the line this time

Don’t worry about my future Faglet; I know you don’t even care, as for my undies I’ve already sown them up
I used blue thread not black so it doesn’t even match; now I look homeless whenever I go out in just my undies

Faglet you ripped my undies, they were mossimo and they were super comfy
Now I’m just like the cut woman, permanently scarred for life

It takes two

This is the theme song for our album. It basically describes the importance of working together and the significance of the number two. Have you ever noticed how many eyes we have, or how many ears we have, or how many antlers a deer has? That’s right; in most cases it is two. Since we are in a band with two members, we decided to write a song that portrays friendship and the everlasting joy you receive from working together. Working in twos just makes the world a far better place, for everybody.

It take two, it takes two
Looking at a flock of alpaca’s down the road didn’t watch my step and tripped on a stone
I face planted on the ground and got a blood nose, a hand reached down to me and to my feet I rose

It takes two to hold someone’s hand; it takes two to have a sweet band
When I chat there’s someone on the other end of the phone, cos with two you’ll never be alone

Try riding a seesaw by yourself, you should try it, you really do need someone else
Then one day someone chopped my legs off with a saw, from then on I needed two crutches to walk

On Noah’s ark I betcha you would find two animals of every single kind
Cos that’s the thing that Noah knew, you can’t go through life without two

(Interlude)

It takes two to hold someone’s hand; it takes two to have a sweet band
When I chat there’s someone on the other end of the phone, cos with two you’ll never be alone

Plumber man

This song is written about a local handyman hero; Plumberman. We just wanted to really appreciate the work he does in our society through song, as we hear he does some really efficient plumbing. Sometimes in society, small time workers like Plumberman get overlooked, and don’t receive the gratitude they deserve, so we took this opportunity to recognize his versatility and competence as a plumber.

Plumber man he wakes up so early in the morning, plumber man he waits until his clients start calling, Bring bring ... hello,
Oh plumber man my drains are blocked and my sinks are overflowing, no problem madam I’ll be there soon
He eats his breakfast really quick jumps into his van and gets going

Plumber man fix my sink tonight, plumber man I know you’ll fix it just right, cos you’re the best

On an average days work he stops for lunch at ten, pickle and cheese sandwich then back into the van again
Sinks over there plumber man if you want to take a look, right-o madam,
I’ll be real quick madam so just go read a book

Plumber man fix my sink tonight, plumberman I know you’ll fix it just right, cos you’re the best

Monkey wrench and plungers what plumber man needs to survive, you’re so affordable plumber man and oh that sexy green van that you drive, that’s not a sexy green van that’s a highly practical and efficient green van, that’ll get you to any job big or small anytime anywhere

Plumber man thanks for fixing my sink tonight, plumberman I know you’ll fixed it just right,
Now my sinks as versatile as can be, my life is fulfilled now plumber man listen to me, you’re the best

The Beauty of life

Through this song, we try to convey a serious message to our listeners; that the small things in life are often the most important. We think that sometimes people get caught up in silly problems and kerfuffles, and don’t take the time to just stop and appreciate what they have, and just be grateful for the fact that they are alive.

This is just a short song with a simple melody; it’ll teach you a good lesson if you listen closely
Keep your whole mind open, your head towards the skies, then maybe you will notice the reward beyond the prize

The most important things in life are the ones that are free, a mother’s love, a pure white dove or the seas serenity
A baby’s laugh, a tall giraffe, an old man full of health, but the most important thing in life, is life itself

Be kind to a stranger and not just a friend; love the earth in all its beauty until the very end
Cherish every moment, live without regret; be sure that your life is a life you won’t forget

The most important things in life are the ones that are free, the night’s sunrise, the day’s sunset, the glisten on the sea
A sandy shore, the oceans floor, the ice peaks in the south, but the most important thing in life, is life itself
